I was born in The City of Joy, Calcutta. A city of rich heritage and glorious culture. Calcutta produced some of the finest Bengali sons and daughters of our Indian soil: Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore, Raja Ram Mohan Roy, Rani Rashmoni, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, Nobel Laureate Amartya Sen, the scientist Bose of MIT fame and many more!!! Famous for its potholes and puchkas, Victoria Memorial and Howrah Bridge, pollution and traffic-jams,Rosogollas and Mishti Doi, The majestic Oberoi Grand and sensual Taj Bengal, Macher Jhol and Sushi,Chinese cuisine at Tangra and the pet-market at Hathibagan, sky scrapers and sprawling mansions, Eden Gardens and Saurav Gangulythis is a city of joys and sorrows, darkness and light, a place where Hindus, Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, Chinese and more, cohabitate in a friendly and cosmopolitan environment.
My school: Loreto House, Middleton Row, Calcutta. Ive also, spent the first few years of my life in the quaint hill-town of Kurseong, the land of the snow-capped Kanchenjunga mountains and emerald tea-gardens. Perched high on a hill-top, is my mountain-home, St. Helens Convent School, a glowing remnant of the crisp and cultured British-Irish education in the days of the Raj. After Calcutta, the next stop was the USA. I did my undergraduate studies at Mount Holyoke College (www.mtholyoke.edu). One of the finest and most renowned and oldest womens colleges (Seven Sisters) in the US. Located in the quaint little town of South Hadley in the Pioneer Valley of Massachusetts, the college campus is a Paradise on Earth. I majored in Biological Sciences with a minor in Psychology. After completing two internships at Harvard Medical School, (www.harvard.edu) researching Angio-Genesis in Mammary Tumors, I stepped into the world of Banking and Finance at First Empire State Corporation/M & T Bank (www.mandtbank.com). This took me to Buffalo, the city of buffalo-wings and the Buffalo Bulls(www.buffalo.com). I lived just 15 minutes away from the wonder of the world, Niagara Falls!. Spent a total of six fabulous years in the USA. Forged life-long friendships with Palvi Asher, Sophia Barkat, Sarah Daunis, Aunt Betty (Elizabeth Hammond), Shalini Sahgal, Ashini Wijayratne, Anastasia Dimitropoulou, Helani Galpaya, Aley Kalapila, Umbreen Khalidi, Tom OReilly, Lisa Rocha, Li-May Hor and my wonderful guides and mentors: David Machowski, Professor J. My next foray was into the South-East Asian hotspot, Singapore (www.contactsingapore.com.sg) Regarded as the cleanest city in the world, truly it is a gleaming and shining little tropical paradisethe center of international trade, commerce and fashions. It is here that I completed my Post-graduate degree in Business Management at the renowned National University of Singapore (ranked # 2 in Asia Pacific). www.nus.edu.sg. Some of my experiences included participating in a fun workshop/retreat with the world-famous Outward Bound at the cute Pulau Ubin island.
